Why Rick Steves?
Way back in 2007 we wanted to take our first trip to Europe, but I was quickly overwhelmed. I had watched Rick Steves for years on PBS and was delighted to find out he offered guided tours in addition to his guide books and shows. We booked The Best of Europe in 14 Days and had an incredible time. Over the next 15 years we would take two additional tours: Best of South Italy in 13 Days and Loire to the the South of France in 13 Days. All the tours were top notch and allowed us to see everything we wanted without the worries about the language barrier and logistics. I wouldn't hesitate to take any Rick Steves tour and be confident we would have a fabulous time.
Why Greece?
In 2020 we were booked on Rick Steves' Best of Germany. Well, we all know how 2020 worked out. And 2021.
We had met Teresa and Bruce on our tour in France in 2016 and we have stayed in touch ever since, so when they told us they were going on the Athens and the Heart of Greece in 14 Days in 2022 and taking their oldest grandkids, we figured, "Why not!" We booked it and crossed our fingers. Thankfully, Covid numbers got under control and countries started to open back up. About a month before our departure the US lifted their Covid testing requirements for reentry and I breathed a sigh of relief knowing we could get back home. A trip we had booked over a year ago was actually going to happen! I honestly couldn't believe we were actually going! |
